Owner and Software Engineer at Tesla Android Project
Mobile and Embedded Software Engineer with a keen interest in Flutter. Always on the lookout for opportunities to test the capabilities of the latest tech, my recent pursuits have been closely tied to the Android Open Source Project.
Tesla's software design has always captivated me, but I couldn't help noticing the absence of native support of 3rd party apps, CarPlay, and Android Auto.
What if, I thought, the built-in browser of a Tesla could double as an interactive Android tablet?
This line of thinking led me to embark on the Tesla Android Project two years ago. After considerable development, it has materialized into a plug-and-play hardware solution without losing it’s Open Source Spirit . In this session, I'll share:
The evolution of the project
How core components work with focus on the app running in the car (multitouch, gps, audio, display etc.)
The unique challenges faced, and solutions devised for Tesla-specific environment (testing, networking, dealing with updates).
How to effectively integrate Flutter apps into the Tesla environment.
